Why I built Robo Load Builder
The Freight Command Center Story
Freight Command Center is the freight service I created around a more connected way of managing freight. After experiencing the brokerage workflow firsthand, I built Robo Load Builder, our AI-driven system, to help keep shipment information and the work surrounding it connected from quote through delivery.
I experienced the work behind the load
When a freight quote hits the inbox, the clock starts. The phone rings. Another email arrives. A carrier calls while another shipment is being priced. Details move between emails, pricing tools, brokerage systems, load boards, spreadsheets, and notes.
When I worked at my first freight brokerage, I saw the same shipment information entered, copied, and checked more than once. As multiple loads moved through different stages, keeping track of details and follow-up became a job of its own.
During daily video meetings, I heard other brokers dealing with many of the same challenges.
The problem wasn’t a lack of effort. People were working hard. Too much of that effort was being spent keeping the process organized instead of managing the freight.
Why are we rebuilding the same shipment again?
I used my software background to build a better process
I had spent decades working with software and application design, going back to 1993. That experience made me look at the freight workflow differently.
Once shipment details have been captured, reviewed, and approved, why should each new step require starting over?
Freight Command Center became the service I wanted customers to experience. Robo Load Builder became the system I built behind it—designed to carry reviewed shipment information forward and help keep the work connected as a load moves from quote to carrier outreach, tracking, delivery, and closeout.
The goal was simple: spend less time rebuilding and organizing the work, and more time managing the freight.
The purpose carries into the work today
Today, Robo supports the workflow behind Freight Command Center, with freight brokerage services provided through UCW Logistics.
Robo does not eliminate the realities of freight. Delays happen. Plans change. Carriers call. Customers need answers.
What Robo gives us is a more connected way to work through those moments—keeping the shipment record, activity, and next steps together so we can stay organized, respond faster, and keep our attention on the freight.
