Linear Feet Calculator
How much trailer floor length does my freight take up?
Trailer Capacity Calculator
How many pallets fit on this truck?
Freight Density Calculator
What is my freight density?
Dimensional Weight Calculator
Will I be billed on size instead of weight?
Reefer Temperature Converter
What is that setpoint in the other scale?
Interior figures are nominal. Wheel wells, bulkheads, reefer equipment, load bars and individual trailer build all reduce usable space. Flatbed height is open, so height limits come from legal and permit rules rather than the trailer. These tools are for planning and estimating. Carrier rules, classification and usable capacity vary by carrier, equipment and commodity.
Freight linear feet calculator
Estimate how much trailer floor length your shipment occupies.
Linear feet is how much length along the trailer floor your freight takes up. It matters most on partial truckload and LTL shipments, where freight cannot be loaded on top of other freight and carriers rate the space you occupy.
How many pallets fit on a truck?
Estimate floor positions for a pallet size and equipment type.
This compares straight and turned loading for your pallet footprint against the nominal interior of each equipment type, and shows which orientation fits more.
Freight density calculator
Work out pounds per cubic foot for an LTL shipment.
Density is total weight divided by total cubic feet, measured across the greatest dimensions of the handling unit. It is one of the inputs to LTL classification, and the one you can calculate yourself.
Dimensional weight calculator
Compare how much space freight takes with what it actually weighs.
Light, bulky freight is often billed on the space it occupies rather than what it weighs. The divisor that decides this differs by carrier and by service, so enter the one on your rate confirmation rather than assuming a standard.
Reefer temperature converter
Fahrenheit and Celsius, converted as you type.
Type into either box and the other updates. Use the temperature and operating mode your shipper requires — this converts a number, it does not recommend one.
32°F = 0°C · 50°F = 10°C · 68°F = 20°C
Common questions
Questions these tools get asked
How many pallets fit in a 53-foot trailer?
It depends on the pallet footprint and whether the freight can be turned or stacked. Use the trailer capacity calculator above for your own pallet size, and see the equipment guide for the typical figures by equipment type.
What does linear feet mean in freight?
Linear feet is how much length along the trailer floor your freight occupies, measured as if you drew a line from the nose toward the doors. Carriers use it to rate partial loads that cannot have other freight stacked on top.
How do I calculate freight density?
Multiply length by width by height in inches for the greatest dimensions of the handling unit, multiply by the number of units, divide by 1,728 to get cubic feet, then divide the total weight by that figure.
Does density always determine freight class?
No. Density is a major input, and it became more prominent when the NMFC structure changed in 2025, but classification also depends on the commodity item and on handling, stowability and liability. That is why the calculator here gives you density and stops there.
Can pallets be turned sideways in a trailer?
Often yes, and it sometimes fits another row across. Turning changes which way the pallet is carried, so check that the pallet and the freight tolerate it, and that the forklift can still place it.
What trailer do I need for my shipment?
Start with the equipment guide, which compares the five common types by weight, pallets, loading access and cost. If it is not obvious, send me the details and I will tell you.
Not sure the calculator tells the whole story?
Send me the shipment details and I will work out the equipment, the space and the price, and tell you where the numbers above would have caught you out.
