Planning freight that needs individual review
Start with a plain-language description of the item and how it will be presented for transport: on its own trailer, on skids, crated or loose. Add the actual dimensions, weight and quantity and any known loading or unloading needs, and say which figures are estimates and which questions are still open.
The planner does not choose a trailer for special cargo. It records what you entered, including size, weight, loading and unloading, weather protection and hazardous material status, and marks the shipment for specialist review, so the equipment is chosen by someone looking at the actual freight. Unusual shapes, attachments, packaging or access needs belong in its notes.
Choosing a familiar category just to get a confident-looking answer does more harm than good. If pallets, crates, machinery or one of the other planners describes your freight, use that one; if none does, a review is better than a misleading fit.

- Length × width × height as it will travel, measured if you can
- The weight, and whether it is per piece or for the group
- How it loads and unloads, and any lifting points

Equipment to consider
There is no automatic equipment match for special cargo. Once the freight has been reviewed, the choice is made from the full equipment library, using the size, weight and handling you describe.

- The equipment the review settles on
- The loading and unloading method, and any lifting
- Weather protection or an enclosed trailer
- Permits or escorts, if the size calls for them
- Distance, the lane and current market conditions

- Picking a familiar freight type just to get a result.
- Guessing dimensions or weight to make the form look complete.
- Leaving out how the item is presented for transport.
- Not mentioning lifting points, attachments or parts that stick out.
- Treating the planner’s review note as an equipment decision.
Special cargo shipping questions
When should I choose Other / Special Cargo?
When none of the other freight types describes what you are shipping. If one does, such as machinery, vehicles or long freight, use that planner, because it can check the fit.
What if the dimensions or weight are still unknown?
Enter what you know and leave the rest blank. The review lists what is missing, and a guessed figure only has to be corrected later.
Will the planner choose a trailer for special cargo?
No. For special cargo the planner makes no automatic equipment match. It organizes your details and marks the shipment for a specialist review.
What happens after I send the details?
We review what you sent and follow up with questions or a quote. Sending the details does not by itself confirm equipment, service availability or a booking.
