The phrase is not universal
TForce Freight describes inside service as moving freight beyond the immediate adjacent loading or unloading position when operating conditions permit. Its tariff includes other-floor handling only under stated conditions such as suitable elevator or escalator access.
Inside delivery is not liftgate
Liftgate gets freight to ground level. Inside delivery moves it beyond the normal handoff point. A shipment can need both.
Inside delivery usually covers
- Moving the freight past the entrance
- Placing it just inside the threshold
- Getting it off the truck and out of the weather
Inside delivery usually does not cover
- A specific room, floor or department
- Stairs, lifts or a long carry
- Unpacking, assembly or debris removal
- Anything the driver cannot do alone with a pallet jack
