Planning your liquid bulk shipment
Start with a clear product description, the quantity in US gallons, and the density in pounds per gallon or the weight, if you have them. Keep supplied figures separate from estimates: if a value is unknown, leave it unknown rather than entering a number just to complete the form.
With the volume and density, the planner calculates the product weight and checks the volume and that weight against the published range of the liquid tanker in our equipment library. It then lists what a carrier still has to confirm: tank material, prior cargo and wash requirements, compartments, outage, product compatibility, and the pump, hose, fittings and receiving capacity. It is a screening, not a tanker selection, and it does not confirm product compatibility, cleaning history or regulated-material requirements.
Liquid already packaged in drums, totes or IBCs is not bulk tanker cargo. Each container is a shipping unit with its own size and gross weight, so plan it on the drums and totes planner instead.

Common mistakes
- Planning liquid in drums or totes as bulk tanker cargo. Packaged containers are planned as drums and totes.
- Entering a guessed density just to fill in the form.
- Leaving out the product requirements, such as food grade or prior-cargo restrictions.
- Leaving the hazardous material status blank instead of checking the Safety Data Sheet.
- Reading a volume and weight screening as confirmation that a tank suits the product.
Liquid bulk shipping questions
What information should I provide for a liquid bulk shipment?
Start with the product, the quantity in gallons, the pickup and delivery locations and the timing. Add the density if you know it, the product requirements, the hazardous material status and how each end loads and unloads. Anything the planner does not ask for can go in its notes or with the quote request.
What if I do not know the density or weight?
Leave the density blank. Enter the weight instead if you have it, or get the figure from the product documentation, such as the Safety Data Sheet or the shipper’s specification. The planner does not fill a missing figure with an assumption.
Does this confirm which tanker can carry my product?
No. The planner checks the volume and weight against the tanker in our library and lists the tank questions that remain. Whether a particular tank can carry your product, given its material, compartments, prior cargo and cleaning, is confirmed with the carrier.
Can I request a liquid bulk quote with some details missing?
Yes. Send what you know and say what is still open. A final price depends on those open details, so it follows once they are settled.
