Freight linear feet calculator

Linear feet is how much length along the trailer floor your freight takes up. It matters most on partial truckload and LTL shipments, where freight cannot be loaded on top of other freight and carriers rate the space you occupy.

Linear feet is floor length, not weight or volume. Carriers may rate a partial load on linear feet, weight or class, whichever is greater.

Interior figures are nominal. Wheel wells, bulkheads, reefer equipment, load bars and individual trailer build all reduce usable space. Flatbed height is open, so height limits come from legal and permit rules rather than the trailer. These calculators are for planning and estimating. Carrier rules, classification and usable capacity vary by carrier, equipment and commodity.
